Something Totally Different

Postby Imarë » Tue Sep 13, 2005 1:10 pm

This did not belong in our "action" thread but I wanted to bring it up here. Since we (meaning Bevan) have moved up in the social field and hopefully will be entertaining more, it would be nice to set up something like a wine cellar. Would anyone like to entrust Dwilith with a sum of money to procure vintages from his ports of call with which to begin this cellar? Imare is willing to contribute if anybody is interested. Let me know what eveyone thinks about this idea.

Don't see why not, but in such matters I naturally defer to the lady for whom the house is named...

I was just thinking that since we all do some of the drinking, we could establish something of all of ours that we could tap when thirsty. This could include any kind of beverage (brandy, wine etc.) available in foreign ports.

Well check out Mr. Domestic :)

I think that would be a good idea. Perhaps on future voyages we can have Dwilith procure some interesting items. I don't think he would have anything for us this time since we are not exactly known for being sedentary.

Didn't we inherit a bit of a wine cellar from Lenesque, or am I misremembering this? Of course by all means we should begin setting aside young vintage for the future, in addition to seeking out stuff already in its glory for more immediate use. Just wondering what our starting point is here.

Yes, there was already a wine cellar, but it can no doubt be improved ...

I am sure that in the time that we have been in residence the cellar would have been visited a time or two. I think that we should lay down stuff not only for personal use, but it can also be used to influence people brought to the house or to use as gifts/bribes when needed. Imare is willing to put in several hundred d to kick the fund off. What amount would Dwilith think would be needed to so something like this? We can also find out who produces the finest product locally and lay in a store not only of the wine and brandy but also ale. Imare is checking out the human condition and wants to explore excessive drinking as opposed to sleeping with random men (maybe she could hire herself a nice "escort" to look after her needs...).

So let me get this straight. As a young female, you figure that your chances of sleeping with random men will decrease if you increase your alcohol consumption. And that, bereft of random men with which to sleep, you will then resort to hiring male escorts to slake your throbbing libido?

Actually Imare was thinking more long term. At least she should be able to pick her own "dates" rather than to be dangled in front of old men in order to get information.

OK, so now the elf's a feminist

In the interest of fairness, I should remind you that Ewen has done his share of dangling himself before the female gender as well. I guess it's that bloody double-standard thing again. 8)

Ewen has, however, managed to avoid midgets and old men. Imare would like some of the young and good looking men for awhile.

A lapse which Ewen will probably never avail himself of the opportunity to, er, rectify.

And let's face it, toots, you had a young and good looking man, and all you did afterward was feign dissatisfaction

If the young and good looking man had been able to, er, perform better, there would have been no dissatisfaction. Just remember, when you have the idea that Imare can be useful by providing these services, there will be a minimum standard (no "let the elf sleep with them and maybe we can learn something"). If a prospectus can be provided that the event will give a tangible outcome, please feel free to pimp the event.

I'd be interested in seeing the marketing collateral on this one.

Imare would even settle for a cost/benefit analysis (typed in triplicate) in its place.
