I was talking with Cheryl about the final moments of the session, and I have a few comments that I think should be available to the wider group.
Firstly, regarding Dave's good point about Maldan's insouciance about the hunting 'accident,' I might note there is a bit of a difference between two anonymous arrows and a summary execution scantily clad in legality.
Second, the idea of seeing the King. Don't count on it. The Queen and Balim have successfully perpetrated a coup. The council is, for the moment at least, moribund. No one will be seeing Haldan III without the Queen's approval at this point. Armed with the Protectorship, the Queen effectively has the regency they sought from the council but which it would not give. It appears that over the interval between meetings they changed tactics. I guess it's good to have the nobles on board if one can get them, but the objective is more important in the end.
Third, Maldan was not attainted or deprived of his lands/titles and so, at this point, Mirild Harabor is legally Earl of Osel. Of course, it might take a little time for that news to reach him, and ironically, younger brother Kornuska in Heru will probably hear about it first.
