The ants go marching two by two...Heru, Heru

Postby Arva » Thu Aug 25, 2016 8:03 am

To recap...we went to Ternua and hired yet another mercenary company, for the purpose of leaving Ewen's men at Ternua and having an (almost) company to fight along side of us when we go to Heru to help Lord Firith take back the castle Heru from Kornesca Harabor.
Ewen also talked to his wife, and Baris went drinking with his favorite quack.
Right?
Ok, on to Heru -
Best case scenario is that the young Harabor hands over metaphorical keys with no issue.
Worst is a siege that lasts the winter and the Queen and Balim get what (we think) they want - Firith failing.

So plans? Thoughts?
I feel like a new person....

Just off the cuff, here, but we know that, even with the addition of our troops, Firith does not have enough men to take Heru keep. Therefore, we have two options, broadly speaking.

(Re-)infiltrate the keep and undermine the defense from within, presumably opening the fortification to Firith's men, or assassinating Kornuska and thus decapitating the Harabor occupation.

Or, goad the defense into sallying forth. For instance... We could stash the bulk of Firith's army nearby, approach the keep to demand Kornuska's capitulation in the Queen's name, and tempt him with our small size into rashly trying to seize our insultingly small company or two with his men. Cue Firith's main body of troops to intervene...

Details to be worked out, of course, whichever path we take. Thoughts?

Of course, the previous post neglects non-military options, such as diplomacy. A deal could be cut with Kornuska to get him to stand down. He could be pitted against his brother. He could be invited to join the Curo/Firith/Ravinargh cabal. And so on.
