No one took notes this session, so this is the GM synopsis of events:

Nuzyael 21, 730

The following morning the party gathered in the common room of the Trobridge Inn to plan their day. It was clear to them that the actions of Kelandra were not consonant with her story, and the party had determined that they could trust virtually nothing she said. While Dwilith and Rakir spent the day fishing, Sir Arlen, Ardeth, and Imarë - whom they had met that morning at the Inn - walked off to the south to see where Kelandra might have been going. After walking about 30 minutes, they discovered an area near the riverbank which had some footprints. They realized that Kelandra had met with two men, and they also found evidence of a rowboat having been lodged in the mud just beyond the waterline.

Returning, they found Kelandra hanging around the wagons on the common where she had been all morning. Ardeth described her behavior to Imarë as having always been weird - but getting weirder.

Meanwhile, another mysterious blonde woman sat in the corner of the Inn, and the party began to feel a cliché coming on. They were intrigued as she seemed to be reading an actual book, making notes of some sort on a piece of paper with a stylus, and her attire reminded them of Sadao. Ardeth went up to her, saying he couldn’t help noticing her book. She fixed a cold stare on him and told him to help it. He went and sat back down.

Meanwhile, Dwilith and Rakir returned with the trout they had caught, and Dwilith reminded the party that ships on the Farin were exceedingly rare. Ardeth confirmed this with Terlin, who laughed and told Ardeth he had had quite enough to drink if he thought he had seen a ship on the river.

Imarë, who had seen a nivik as she made her way north, now informed the party of this, having missed the significance of it earlier. The party began to speculate on what Kelandra might have been doing and what the ship might have had to do with it.

Meanwhile, Ardeth noticed the mysterious blonde leaving, and decided to follow her. No one else felt so inclined. As he left the building, she turned, looked straight at him, and told him the privy was in the other direction. He thanked her, went that way, and then resumed following her. Leaving the compound, he felt a ‘pushing’ at his head and although he tried to resist, he heard the command, “go back” inside his brain. He tried to resist and press on, and then there was a shockingly painful impact to his abdomen and he blacked out. Sir Arlen and Rakir found him about twenty minutes later, still unconscious. They brought him back to the Inn and into the room, where a small man was there leveling a crossbow. He ordered them inside, and for Sir Arlen to drop his sword. Sir Arlen threw the sword at Jelayn, disarming him, and discharging the crossbow harmlessly into the ceiling. They then subdued Jelayn, and attempted to question him without success. Ultimately they bound and gagged him to decide what to do with him. Meanwhile Ardeth regained consciousness, but was delirious and so unable to give a full account immediately. However, in that state, he still overheard much of what went on, and sputtered incoherently, including mentioning the Biradian Steed.

Eventually, Ardeth came around and told of the encounter with the blonde woman, and what he knew of the legend of the Biradian Steed. The party did connect this with the ceramic horse stolen in Coranan, but did not believe it could be the real item, as that was more likely at the bottom of the Gulf. Nevertheless, they did search the wagons and Kelandra’s room, finding neither a statue nor Kelandra. Although they would have liked to know where she was, they did not search, and were not terribly surprised when she failed to rejoin the caravan in the morning. They left Jelayn tied up in the room.

Nuzyael 22-28, 730

The trip from Trobridge to Tashal went uneventfully, mostly because of the annual Chelni Gather, but the party did pass near a small group of Chelni in the midst of a ceremony where young men bond with their mounts. The party arrived in Tashal on Nuzyael 28.

Upon entering Tashal, the group bid farewell to Feben, and secured lodging at the Tower Inn. They then found the Hall of the Mangai where they sought news of Rathbar. The Porter told them that Rathbar was at that time out of the city on a contract near Chybisa, but that he could direct them to another company should they be so inclined. They instead asked him where they might hear other news of Rathbar and were directed to the Spurs. At that inn, they engaged in a loud and unproductive conversation with Halime, the innkeeper. The party was then invited to dinner with Escalus at the Iron Bell that evening. On the way back to the Tower Inn, Ardeth thought he saw Kelandra in the crowd, but did not pursue her.

Dinner with Escalus was a quick event. Ardeth was not overjoyed to see Rhonna in attendance, but the party was not surprised to see her in Tashal. Escalus, who referred to Sir Arlen as ‘Sir Arlen Selaty not quite of Selaty,’ attempted to recruit the party to become involved in an intrigue against Kaldor by working to blackmail a minor chancery clerk. Sir Arlen, his chivalry offended, refused out of hand. Escalus, seeing that there would be no change in that attitude, abruptly terminated the meeting stating only that he was disappointed.

Upon their return to the Tower, they were met by Kelandra, who wished them to act as a go-between for her to Casman. Although they did not trust her, they agreed, and understood that they would share in the proceeds. Ultimately they returned to the Iron Bell and received the rest of the tale of the Steed from Casman. When the steed was delivered, they all opened it, discovered it was a ceramic fake, and parted company. Casman had offered them £100 for their share, and in the end consented to them taking £10 ‘for their trouble.’ He had also noted the party was well-armed. The loot was divided four ways between Dwilith, Rakir, Ardeth, and Imarë at 600d apiece.

The party returned to the Tower for the night.
