As the warband approaches Tandir, the sun is low in the western sky, and it’s nearing sunset. The group can see many Jarin peasants about their business, returning from the stubbled fields, herding goats, sheep, and pigs, working in their plots, and all the myriad of tasks which consume the life of the peasantry. None of the peasants seem to notice the warband just behind the treeline. Ahead looms the castle, perched at the summit of a hill which slopes gently on its southern face, but forms precipitous inclines on the others. They note that the outer bailey of the castle is actually built on the slope itself, and the western wall of the outer bailey slopes with the contours of the hill. The keep, built on the very apex of the outcropping, stands at least four stories tall with several taller towers. They had thought Geldeheim and impressive fortification, but Tandir was an order above.
Further up, near the bay, there seemed to be less activity, and where they had expected to see ships, there were none save some smaller fishing craft and coasters. They could, however, see the burnt skeleton of what must have once been a mighty dragonship - King Alegar’s no doubt. Another burnt-out hulk could once have been a longship. While they could see movement in the castle itself, and the gates stood open, there seemed to be no soldiers in the town itself.
