Maldan Harabor - To Follicle or Not to Follicle

Postby Matt » Tue May 10, 2011 11:39 am

Richard has recently updated his illo of Maldan Harabor which was one of the first he ever did for Harn. Now in his update, he removed the hat and revealed to all the world that Maldan is bald!

However, after some objections to this revelation, he did yet another version with a full head of hair. Now I happen to like the bald one, but then the hairy brute came along and I think I like it a bit better (he looks more sinister).

So please vote as I can only use one version for our campaign. Let me know if you prefer bald and in need of a good waxing, or Maldan with the long-flowing evil locks. Step right up and help change Harnic follicle history!

What will your mummy sing when they find your body?"

Is this a poll in the abstract, or are these illos available somewhere to be viewed and compared? Have I overlooked an embedded link, or are we simply opining on which is the more aethetically virtuous of the two states?

I must say, BTW, I am shocked to find such rabid hair partisans amongst my friends.

For myself, without an actual illustration to judge, I'll take my Maldan Harabor thus:

Bald as the bare mountain tops are bald, with a baldness full of grandeur.
Matthew Arnold

Well, Van, well stated.

The actual illos I have but am not at liberty to publish in such a public forum. So, for the nonce, the concept must remain an aesthetic theoretical.

So, two to one in favor of hair.

Anyone else?

Being among the follicly challenged myself, I would go for that. What's the old saying... Bald is beautiful.

Bald pulls ahead!

It's now three to two.

Teddy? Good grief, I might need to be a tie breaker. Does this make me Joe Biden?

Let us hope you are not Joe Biden, lest Maldan Harabor end up receiving hair and Botox treatments to boot.

"plugs" Haribor does have a nice ring though...

Just to let you know, you can't be Joe, you don't travel Amtrak.

In truth, I've traveled to NYC three or four times on the Amtrak Acela over the years. :?

As I told Matt, after having the privilege of seeing the images in question, I am in favor of hair. Sorry Van. :-D

Well, the vote now being three to three, I must somehow break the tie.

I think I shall expand the survey sample, and ask the writers.

The writers, including the artist, have narrowly voted in favor of lack of follicles.

Therefore, I declare Maldan BALD!
